Various Education & Sport Organisations

Education & Leadership  |  UK & UAE

September 2002 - March 2018

Fifteen years in senior education, sport and leadership roles across the UK and UAE, progressing from Athletics Director and Head of Physical Education to Partnership Development Manager, with responsibility for teams, curriculum development, professional training and large-scale physical activity and school sport programmes.

Highlights included leading a team of 14 qualified teachers and working across 82 London schools, delivering national leadership and professional development training, contributing advisory expertise within government education and sport settings, and establishing Physical Education and Athletics provision within an international school in Dubai.

This period also included serving as a Team Leader in Press Operations at the London 2012 Olympic Games, working with athletes and international media within the Mixed Zone at Horse Guards Parade.

Leicester City FC Academy & Southampton FC Academy

Academy Operations & Youth Development

August 1999 - August 2001

Worked within professional football during a major period of change in English youth development, holding Academy Administrator roles at Leicester City FC and Southampton FC as clubs implemented and embedded the new Academy structure introduced through The FA's Charter for Quality.

The new framework represented a significant shift in the development of young professional players, establishing formal Academies and Centres of Excellence with defined standards covering player registration and development, coaching, education, welfare, safeguarding, medical and physiological monitoring, staffing, facilities and administration. Its wider objective was to create a structured pathway through which professional clubs could identify, nurture and develop talented young players over the longer term.

As Academy Administrator, my remit included supporting the implementation and ongoing administration of these requirements, maintaining player records and registrations, coordinating Academy processes and communications, and working across coaching, education, welfare and operational functions to ensure the Academy structure met the required professional-football standards.

This was an early introduction to regulated programme delivery, governance, compliance, stakeholder coordination, quality standards and structured reporting – skills that subsequently became central to my career in project and programme management and, more recently, project monitoring and assurance.
